In Conversation with… Billy Kay

Prolific writer and broadcaster whose interests include the Scots language and the historic Scots diaspora across the world. His acclaimed book The Mither Tongue was adapted for television and is cited as a catalyst for the revived expression of Scots in modern day Scotland. Kay’s Odyssey series for BBC Radio Scotland – about the diverse Scots experience – was met with admiration. In 2022, he gave an oration to the Scottish parliament in the mither tongue. An Ayrshireman, Billy lives in Tayside. An admirer of the city of Dundee and a passionate Dundee United supporter.
