In Conversation with… John McDonnell

Labour MP for Hayes and Harlington in West London since 1997. Shadow Chancellor 2015-2019. Elected to the Greater London Council (GLC) as the member of Hayes and Harlington in 1981. He became Chair of Finance, responsible for the GLC’s multi-million pound budget. Born in Liverpool and raised in Norfolk. Prior to 1981, worked in the Trade Union movement and later as Chief Executive of the Association of London Government. In September 2015 he was appointed Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer under Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership.
