CANCELLED The Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto and Other Works
Sixty musicians perform one of the most popular works in the modern Chinese classical canon, in which Western orchestral influences combine with Chinese folk opera, conducted by its composer He Zhanhao. Premiering in 1959, it was written with the intention of giving China an individual and popular form of Western-style classical music and has become one of the best-loved pieces in that genre, both at home and abroad. A unique opportunity to hear the concerto performed as its 90-year-old composer originally intended in the West.
