Candace Bryan: Communist Dad
Candace tells the story of her unusual childhood in Memphis, Tennessee-raised by a single dad who loves playing the banjo and reading Karl Marx. Now living in London, she has begun to realise how her upbringing has influenced her worldview, her sometimes-questionable life choices and her relationships. This show is a playful takedown of the traditional nuclear family, politics in America and society’s obsession with motherhood. Candace was a 2022 2Northdown New Act semi-finalist and her work has featured in Cosmopolitan and Vice. She will be supported by some of her favourite acts opening the show each day.
