The Lowland and Border Pipers' Society's 40th Anniversary Concert
Formed in 1983 to revive and promote the playing of Scotland's 'other' bagpipes, the LBPS achieved this aim. These bagpipes are the bellows-blown, single-stocked variety once found around the lowland towns and districts. By the 1830s, instruments and their music gradually became a thing of the past, mainly due to the dominance of the Highland bagpipe. They are popular again, thanks to the LBPS. In our traditional music scene, no band, concert or recording is complete without a bellows piper. We will hear music from some of our best exponents.
