Scottish Women Artists
Offering a fresh history of Scottish art since 1750, this exhibition spotlights key artists, all of whom are women. Complex artistic and personal identities are explored through works of integrity and beauty including painting, sculpture, photography and tapestry. Featuring Scotland’s first professionally trained woman artist Catherine Read, 19th-century pioneers Phoebe Anna Traquair and Bessie McNicol, 20th-century masters Joan Eardley and Elizabeth Blackadder, and contemporaries Victoria Crowe, Rachel Maclean, Alison Watt and Alberta Whittle. Dovecot is weaving new artwork during the exhibition highlighting the vitality of the contemporary art scene in Scotland. In collaboration with The Fleming Collection.
