The Progressive Campaign

After performing The Story of Captain James Cook in 2022, Tim Hunter returns to the Fringe to narrate and perform songs taken from his latest concept album, The Progressive Campaign. The show is based on the events that led to the slave trade being abolished throughout the British Empire by Parliament, mainly through the efforts of Independent Yorkshire MP, William Wilberforce. This entertaining musical take on Wilberforce’s story (and of other campaigners, like John Newton) will celebrate and inform. The shows coincide with Wilberforce's birthday and feature John Newton's hymn Amazing Grace, first performed 250 years ago.
